# What are Petrons?

The manner in which oil and gas data is procured shapes our thinking and perception about the data and how we use it. Oil and gas data is generated by fragmented services and then siloed across the well's lifecycle.

We know that effective data analysis and asset management needs context from across the well's lifecycle. But even successful efforts to integrate this data often produce data structures that mimic these silos. As a result, these efforts deliver data to team members in the same verticals they were gathered in. Couple this with stacked pay and multiple asset teams and you get a multidimensional data problem to unpack.

We need to look at in a different way, the way it was meant to be viewed. Petro.ai gives you a holistic look at your area of interest by reconstructing the reservoir.

# Petron

A Petron is the unit of analysis inside Petro.ai. Petrons challenge conventional thought by organizing entities and associated data from across the well's lifecycle into one place.

You no longer need to query, filter, and then relate data to arrive at the starting point of your analysis. Petrons are available throughout the Petro.ai ecosystem. Create a Petron in the web and grab it in Spotfire - all the context you need is there.

Petrons are perfect for the data scientist creating models in Petro.ai, the engineer running a basin study, or the manager approving the latest decline curves. All these activities occur within the Petron. Petrons are collaborative - comment about significant data and talk though concerns. Petrons allow teams to cut across domains. Petrons support the Plan, Track, Measure, Improve cycle. Teams can learn from other teams - valuable insights and models from one Petron can be applied to many. From the data pad to the business unit, Petrons allow your science to scale.

# Petron Library

The Petron Library contains all Petrons that currently reside in the application. From the library, users can quickly select a Petron and jump right into the context of choice. Users can also create Petrons via the action button on the bottom right.

# Petron Card

Petron Cards display the Petron and high-level facts about the Petron to give the user a quick understanding of Petron’s ‘shape’. These facts include the geographic extent, well and model counts, and how many Petrons are contained.
